«با نهایت تأسف و تأثر با خبر شدیم دکتر شهریار بایگان، استاد تمام دانشکده فیزیک پردیس علوم دانشگاه تهران، دعوت حق را لبیک گفته و رخ در نقاب خاک کشیده است. این استاد فرهیخته که از پژوهشگران و صاحب‌نظران حوزه فیزیک هسته‌ای نظری و از پیشگامان «نظریه میدان‌های مؤثر در فیزیک هسته‌ای» بود، علاوه بر آموزش و تربیت دانشجویان شاخص در این زمینه، تألیف و ترجمه آثار علمی، مدیریت گروه هسته‌ای دانشکده فیزیک را نیز در کارنامه پربار و پربرکت خود دارند که بی‌شک ثمرات فعالیت‌های این استاد فرهیخته، همواره ماندگار خواهد ماند. از طرف هیأت‌رئیسه و خانواده بزرگ دانشگاه تهران ضمن ابراز تأسف عمیق، درگذشت این استاد فرهیخته را به خانواده سوگوار ایشان، دانشجویان، استادان و همکاران این استاد ارجمند تسلیت گفته، رحمت و غفران واسعه الهی را برای آن مرحوم و اجر و شکیبایی برای بازماندگان از خداوند منان مسئلت می‌نماید»

Dear Hadi, I heard the news yesterday as well. His passing away is a great loss for the Iranian Physics Society and the international Few-Body community. He was a very knowledgable and a kind person but more importantly, he was a visionary for the advancement of the few-body physics in Iran. The result of his work are partly seen in the production of a number of very good physicists like you and others.

dear hadi,
I'm truly sorry to hear this. i met him only once in trieste i think in the early 2000s when he showed interested in EFT in few-body systems. he was quiet but seemed a very decent person. he had vision and certainly did work of high quality, in addition to educating many talented people like you and my graduate student habashi. this is a great loss for the community. i regret i'll never be able to know him better.
